Quadcopter Hardware Implementation Project
Question: Describe about the Quadcopter Hardware Implementation Project? Answer: Introduction A quadcopter or a quadrotor helicopter is a helicopter with multiple rotors, which uses four rotors or motors to perform the upliftment operation. To propel the Quadcopter, the four motors or rotors are used, with propellers attached to the motor axis. Quadcopter has two fixed pitched propellers, which are identical: two anticlockwise and two clockwise. They are used to control torque and lift by varying the RPM of the rotors. In this project, a quadrotor helicopter has been designed, and its hardware has been implemented. The report describes the designing and development part in details. The materials used has also been discussed in the report. The quadcopter so developed, is a working model and take a successful flight. Quadcopter finds a variety of applications in various fields. Some of them are: 1. Research Uses In research purposes, the Quadcopter is used to study the physics and aerodynamics. 2. Military Use Military finds an extensive use of Quadcopter. It is used for surveillance and reconnaissance. They are commonly referred to as drones here. They can perform risky tasks as they are unmanned. 3. Commercial Use The commercial use of Quadcopter has been emerging extensively. They are used for HD photography, for video coverage of events, delivery system to remote locations etc. Many more uses are planned in recent future. Implementation Main Design and Working The rotors of the quadcopter are used to produce thrust. Torque is also produced by them, which is about the centre of rotation. The drag force produced is opposite to the direction of light of the quadcopter. Fig. Torque on each motor on the quadcopter If all rotors are spinning at the same angular velocity, with motors 1 and 3 rotating clockwise and rotors 2 and 4 counter clockwise, the net aerodynamic torque, and hence the angular acceleration about the yaw axis, is exactly zero, which implies that the yaw stabilizing rotor of conventional helicopters is not needed. Yaw is induced by mismatching the balance in aerodynamic torques (i.e., by offsetting the cumulative thrust commands between the counter-rotating blade pairs). Materials Used The main materials needed for building a quadcopter are: propellers, frame, and motors/rotors. In our project, we have used a hybrid combination of plastic and wooden frame. The frame have been crafted out from a sheet of light weight wood, and have been designed according to the need. The propellers are made of plastic, and are of fixed pitch. They are durable and good for the project. Very high RPM brushless DC motors have been used in the project as rotors. Fig. Propellers Fig. Li-Po battery The battery is the most important component in a Quadcopter. The battery used in our project is a Li-Po battery, which is rechargeable. The battery has to be powerful enough to give the Quadcopter the desired time flight. Result The quadcopter has been designed and implemented on the hardware successfully. The quadcopter takes the flight like it should, and can be manually controlled. It has a microcontroller embedded in it, and it can be programmed to work on its own. The battery once charged can be used to fly the quadcopter for about 15 minutes. Better battery can be used to make it fly for longer durations. The flight dynamics and flying can be controlled by controlling the rotors separately, or in pairs. Evaluation A very light weight material has to be used for the quadcopter frame. We have used a combination of plastic and wood. But instead, if we used the whole body made of light weight plastic, it would have been lighter. The se of carbon fibre material is also recommended. It is a very light material, and hence, perfect for the small quadcopter project. It is also very sturdy and can be used to carry weights with the quadcopter as payload. These weight can be camera or GPS devices, or such instruments, if we wish to extend the project further and make it more useable. The use of better battery is also recommended. Through, the battery should be always Lithium ion polymer battery, as it can provide a steady current for a longer duration of time. If the battery has more mAh rating, it could provide current for longer duration, and hence, the quadcopter could take longer duration flights. Also, if we wish to extend the project by integrating other peripherals like camera or GPS device to the quadcopter, a better battery would be needed to power such a device too. The quadcopter can be made wireless by using and integrating a wireless device with it, like Wi-Fi device or a Bluetooth device. Most popular device used with quadcopter are ZeegBee, which are should distance wireless devices. They can be easily integrated and programmed with our project. The project doesnt require any special maintenance. Though, the battery, if not taken proper care of, can become useless after some time. So, it should be properly turned off and disconnect after every use. The charging and discharging cycle should also be kept in mind. Conclusion The quadcopter has become a very important field of research and development. It has been expected to take over many important activities like delivery system, and extensive use in defence. We have successfully developed and implemented the hardware of a Quadcopter in this project. The functionalities of the developed project is: it can take a flight, change direction, change altitude, rotate.

Lego.Com Case Study Essays - Lego, Lego.com, Robot Kits,
Lego.Com Case Study Lego Mindstorms The non-commercial website Lego.com has been an enormous success providing Lego with a strong presence on the Internet. However, implementing a website capable of handling sales transactions requires a great deal more than a non-commercial site. The firm has implemented an ERP system which may provide some technical support for the website. The details of the ERP system are unknown at this time; however, the goal of implementing the system was to optimize the supply chain from production to distribution, which will be a significant opportunity for the E-Commerce project. Another important consideration is incorporating the ERP system into the E-Commerce transactions so that separate systems and processes are not necessary. The Lego company enjoys worldwide brand recognition; ranking 5th in the global toy market behind such giants as Mattel Hasbro Sega and Nintendo. The Lego.Com website is among the top 10 sites for children. Both of these factors represent a significant strength for the firm over competitors. The firm has traditional sold to retailers and other middlemen and has little experience in direct consumer sales. This has been the case in the past the typical buyer of Legos products are not the consumers of the product. The firm currently generates 5 % of total sales from the catalog sales of its products. The catalog operations may provide supporting resources for direct sales logistics and experience in direct consumer sales. The firm has both financial and employee resources to support the E-Commerce implementation. Legos philosophy underlies all company activities and supports to a large degree their branding strategy. The Lego vision Idea, Exuberance and Values requires that all Lego products stimulate childrens imagination, creativity, and are high quality products. The LEGO MINDSTORMS products as all products in Legos offerings align with the firms overall philosophy and represent a strength for the company. However, the E-commerce site must handle sales in a way that supports the firms philosophy; such as quality service, creativity, and the belief that children are the vital concern. The LEGO MINDSTORMS product line already meets the standards; however, the website and the entire process including marketing to order fulfillment must be carried out in the traditional Lego philosophy. Throwing away the ideas, the philosophies and the definition of the Lego company which has in the past proven very successful for the company in any Lego E-Commerce website or operation is a mistake. This stren gth separates Lego from the other 2 billion sites on the web that could sell blocks of some type of Legos own products. Lego has a global supply chain already in place and includes processes of planning, production, distributing and logistics. The E-Commerce project will impact distributing and logistics because of the differences in delivering to consumers versus delivering to retailers and other distributors. Delivering the product on time and correctly is a main priority of the E-Commerce site and can prove to be a strength or a weakness. Currently Lego, Inc. has companies and offices in 30 countries and covers 6 continents providing a great deal of resources needed for both the selling to consumers and perhaps some of the infrastructure existing can support the Lego Mind storms e-commerce sites. Many issues arise from Legos target market being largely children. The first problem is moving from a child wishing to buy a Lego product to a parent paying for the product. Many ethical and legal issues must be addressed when marketing to children. One possible way of dealing with these sensitive issues is to allow parents to customize the web site and pre pay purchases using gift cards. Two advantages result from this strategy; the first is giving parents control over what products and information is available to the children. For example, a parent may decide to restrict the product catalog to the lower cost products and products that offer more of an educational experience. The other advantage is that this strategy will address payment issues. A further advantage coming from allowing the children to do their own shopping on the Internet is providing a fun experience to the child. The American market should be the starting point for the firms e-commerce efforts because of complexity of infrastructure in terms of logistics, marketing, legal issues,

Consumer Participation in Mental Healthcare in Australia Research Paper
Consumer Participation in Mental Healthcare in Australia - Research Paper Example The optimistic logic of mental health is that it leaves a special variety of stress on human emotions while mental illness conducts negative stress on human thoughts and actions. However, mental illness is not subjected to any physical illness or disease but considered, as a psychological disorder in humans ((Editor),H. Tristram Engelhardt Jr (Editor),S.F.Spicker ). During 1970ââ¬â¢s, it was widespread that mental illness and mental health were the two different shaft of a continuum. Since, there are varying degrees of health and sickness that indicates a personââ¬â¢s behavior, a thin line is present between mental health and mental illness. However, one may become sick from being healthy subjective to enough stress and anxiety in social environment. Likewise, in 1980ââ¬â¢s, this theory was rejected by (Michelââ¬â¢s and Marzuk1993; Wilson1993) stating that a person can either be sick or healthy (, Department of Health). According to this statement, mental illness in a per son is demonstrated by its abnormal behavior. For example, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, anger, aggression and substance abuse etc. In addition, the sources of mental illness are biochemical, biological, neurological or genetics. Mental health delineates self-esteem, self-actualization and realization, ability to fulfill desires, and significant relationships. Consequently, mental health is far more different from mental illness (, Department of Health).à Subsequently, Australia and New Zealand have been working significantly in providing mental health care facilities to the consumers, as a result, the countryââ¬â¢s national policies, effective strategies and legislation have been prepared.Ã

Long Term And Short Term Goals General Studies Essay
Long Term And Short Term Goals General Studies Essay Long term goals could be described as a desired end effect for example; becoming a computer engineer is a long term goal for someone not in a related field. A good example of a short term goal would be that a person needs to fulfill an academic process giving that person the tools to obtain that career. Long term goals could be described as destinations and short term goals could be described as the route taken to lead someone to their destination. Values control a persons life rules therefore dictating their options for long term goals. Values are very important to goal setting because it is a part of what drives a person to decide on what their long term goals are and what they will do to achieve those goals as well as act as a motivator to drive them to complete their goals. Creating short term goals are like plotting a route on a map. Once you have determined a persons long term goals it is important to set waypoints to guide that person to their destination. This is how setting short term goals should be approached. There are similar systems for planning in the military called backwards planning. It is helpful to work backwards from your long term goals. For example; to get a job at a software firm a person must have a degree in a field needed by the software firm. To get a degree one must go to school and pass all the required classes to obtain the degree. In order to pass the classes that person must sign up for those classes. From this point the short term goals start to appear more like daily tasks, this is because short term goals can vary from daily to weekly to monthly. Some tactics used to achieving these goals are to define in detail goals that a person wants to achieve both short and long term this includes creating a time table for that person to check their progress and to see where they stand. It is also important to have partners that can help keep one another accountable for reaching their goals. Personally, this is a good tactic because people can help each other to strategize and brainstorm to create better detail for their goals. Finally it is important to anticipate problems; this is done by reviewing goals and developments that may impact progress. If a problem can be anticipated it a person has more time to react and adjust or prepare for a possible hitch in their plan. Check Point: Creating Goals. Cindy Ewing The difference between short- and long-term goals, are that long- term goals are set to be reached in six months or more. A long term goal may be a goal that would take two years. Short-term goals are like taking small steps to get to the end of my long term goal. It is like a baby, one must learn to crawl before one can walk, Taking baby steps before one can run. My goal will be easier to achieve if I take small steps, or set short-term goals. My personal value is achieving my associate degree. I value this because, it is just for me. It is something that I wanted to do for a long time. I value what my degree will mean to me and where it will take me within the next three years. Along the way I will learn other valuable education tools to reach my goal. To prioritize my goal, I need to focus on my long-term goal; I need to know what value I have placed on that goal. The value I have placed on my goal is that I will be able to change my career, better myself, and achieve something that I have made excuses for why I could not do it. I need to prioritize my fulltime job, my responsibility of being a manager, my family, my schooling. All of these elements play apart in me achieving my goal. I need to list how much of the extra time I spend at work can I eliminate, I have an assistant, I need to shift some of my duties, my family is my support system, so there is understanding there that my school will take much of my free time. A friend of mine, they had a goal to buy a house within one year. They taped a picture of a house similar to what was wanted to the refrigerator. This serves as a reminder everyday why a night out, or a weekend get-away, or a shopping spree did not factor in at the time. That goal was reached for them in the time frame that was set. I can do the same with my goal. The career I want after earning my degree can be posted on my refrigerator. This will remind me why I should not do some of the things I have been use to doing. Skip the movies, or watching a television show, beside I can record it for later viewing. With my values in place, my priorities in order I am sure to succeed in meeting my goal. Dreama Lane The difference from short and long term goals is; short- term goals are stepping stones toward the reach of a long- term goal. As in saying that you will have to break down your plans to reach the full long- term goal; long-term goals are attaining goals over a long period of time. You have to establish determination to make the effort of consistently to reach the goal. A person can align their long- term goals to their personal values by choosing whats more important in their goals. The more your goals reflects your values, the successful your motivation and desire to meet them. Some strategies for prioritizing short- term goals are: you can break the goals down in to groups that represent the first important steps of the short- goals. It will show the steps the time frame. Prioritizing will help you evaluate and handle the goals in order. Figure out what goals are very important, weigh your oppositions. By completing the goals you have to be attentive and focus all your energy on them. you can consider the evaluation of your values, your personal dilemma, and time commitments. After you accomplish the goal you would like to reach, define your goal achievement strategy, what will it take for you to reach your goals. Establishing what you have to do to carry the goal out, if you have to put this goal as first priority keep in mind that you have to take one step at a time. You can set a time limit for when you want to achieve any goals. Keep track of your progress so you can know how much further you have to go to reach the objective time period. Strive to achieve to move forward no matter what, follow your guide for completion to stay on top, even if you have to mark it down with a check list. Dont put all your eggs in one basket, be prepared to have a back up plan, in case your plans dont fall in order. You will have to re-evaluate your priorities until you can find what works best for you. Its best to anticipate for minor glitches, follow your steps map out the plan to help you reach the goals. How they can be applied and how to maintain focus to reach the goals. Harris Williams Topic: Goal Setting A long-term goal is goals that can be achieved in a six-month or longer period. A short-term goal is a goal that is expected to be achieved within 6 months or less. In my opinion, the difference in long and short-term goals is the amount of time that it takes to achieve the goal. For example, if a person is thinking about going back to school to get his or her masters degree, and presently the person only has an associates degree. In this scenario, the persons short-term goal would probably be the steps it would take to enroll at their school of choice. The long-term goal would be to earn the masters degree. For a person who is seeking to set a long-term goal, it would be a good idea to plan how you plan to achieve your goal. By it being a long-term goal, planning will be very important, because you need to realistically know that your goal can be reached and how you will fit it into your daily schedule. Some ways to prioritize your short term goals would be to make sure everything else that is of value to you is fitted into your schedule. It is very important to balance out school, work, and family time. Often times when people set goals, we really intend on achieving them, especially in the beginning, when the goal is set. Some of the goals we set whether long or short are reachable, but there is a valuable step in setting goals that we often do not do, it is called planning. To plan a goal, it would be helpful to write them down, make a few copies of your goals, post your goals in places where you will notice them, always have a realistic goal that is possible to reach. If your goal is impossible to reach, you could be wasting valuable time that could be put into a possible goal. For example, a realistic short-term goal could be to wake up every morning and do ten push-ups before I go to work, this can be achieved. An unrealistic short-term goal would be to get my masters within the next 2 years without an associates degree. Check Point: Creating Goals. Criticisms in An Inspector Calls Essay -- Critics An Inspector Calls S
Criticisms in An Inspector Calls 'An Inspector Calls' is a very thought provoking and rousing play. It was obviously written to make a strong point and illustrate the social gap between classes. This play was written in 1945 and since then, times and situations have changed enormously. However, this play still has great relevance today due to the fact that as a country we retain strong upper class societies who are very definitely detached. In the following essay, I aim to outline the many arguments and lines of thought that this play incites. To illustrate this I will use extracts from the play. I will also use my own thoughts and opinions: Before the Inspector enters, we are already forming opinions and views on the characters. Mr Birling seems very worried about wealth and social ranking. He says to Gerald who is his daughter's fiancÃÆ'Ã ©, 'You ought to like this port Gerald. Finchley told me it's exactly the same port as your father gets from him.' Gerald's parents have a much higher social status than Mr Birling, and he is obviously trying to impress Gerald so he will pass it on to his parents. Mrs Birling also seems very prudish and stuffy. When Mr Birling makes a comment about the quality of the meal and asks her to inform the cook she replies with, 'Arthur, you're not supposed to say such things-' Although not as obvious as her husband, she is also trying to make a good impression and convey the fact that she is an important lady, with wealth and rank. She is anxious for the marriage between Sheila and Gerald to go ahead because she is always trying to smooth things over and make it run smoothly. For example, when Gerald tries to get Sheila to admit how much he loves her and she does not r... ...n anyway or show any sorrow or repentance. I think that this shows that older people find it harder to adjust and some people are just set in their ways and have no inclination to change. The play also illustrates and criticises the gap in social stature and behaviour. If people are believed to be 'upper class' then they treat anyone below them with disdain and no interest. This play is illustrating that the Inspector treats both classes with the same attitude. He treats the Birlings with the same respect or resistance he would to any other suspect or interviewee. He does not give them preferential treatment and I think that this is showing how everyone should treat each other. The play is criticising the fact that as individuals we do not consider the consequences of our actions, and that as a society we do not realise what one action can lead to.
